What does working magic look like in practice?

CASE STUDY FROM AN INTERNATIONAL FASHION BRAND

The leadership team wanted to work on their team cohesion and do something to improve their customer journey.

Their original thinking was: A morning session to look at the numbers and discuss how to do it better. In the afternoon a boat trip for teambuilding.

This is what the day ended up looking like instead:

  • The CEO put on a show and presented the redesign of the customer journey as a mission to their team.

  • Employing reversed psychology, the team came up with all the ways in which things might go horribly wrong along the current customer journey. Overdoing it with exaggerated examples made it easier to face the tough reality that they were losing customers in real life and talk about problem areas and bottlenecks openly and without blame.

  • The team went on a walk in nature in groups of three with “visualisation stops” where they got to sit down at beautiful point with a view and listen to audio journeys that invited them to see/feel and think along the lines of the box of a new customer journey.

  • During a portion of an extensive and delicious lunch break, the participants were invited to begin all their sentences with “what if”.

    From“what if we bow to our customers when they come to the cash register?” to “what if you pass me the salt?”, this lead to lots of belly laughter, a fun atmostphere and the sharing one “one-upping” of some great ideas.

  • The team picked their top 3 directions and designed new customer journeys powered by bags of lego.

    The mutual presentations of their prototypes were both entertaining and insightful and we closed with a strategic decision session in which a few changes were deemed “safe enough to try”.

  • During a private dinner everyone shared touching stories from their family history...

    There were goosebumps all over.

How we co-design your offsite

1) Intro Session

We hop on a call and ask you a lot of questions: about who you are, who you aren’t, who you want to be, what your offsite is about and what the elephants in the room might be.

2) Co-creation

Based on what you’ve given us (and perhaps some interviews with your team), we’ll come up with a rough design. Think wild west, no saddle. We’ll present it to you and then shoot at the design together to see which parts still stand afterwards.

3) The Details

In our last design phase we’ll iron out final kinks and make sure all the details are right, from your intro words to making sure Peter has what he needs for his breakout session.

  • We work with high-growth startups to big established companies from AI to automotive. You are the experts in your field. We are the experts in leadership, collaboration, communication and a few other areas like sustainability, gender-positive leadership and how the brain works…

  • We are explicitly not proponets of a given school of thought, but rather draw on the newest research from a myriad of different specialities: organisational psychology, neuroscience, experience design, social movements, mindfulness, philosophy to name a few.

    Our underlying belief system: We want a world that works for all. To move minds you need to move hearts. If it’s fun, it’s good.

  • Our approach is experiential, meaning you’re much more likely to have your hands in play dough than just leaning back and listening.

    We’ve got a big bag of tricks to draw upon and gauge just how “out there” it makes sense to be together. Where useful, we are happy to employ external methods, such as Barrett Analytics or the Neurocolor personality assessment.

  • Ideally an offsite takes place out of your usual context, simply because context affects how we behave. We’d rather work with you in a converted barn, go hiking or be in a beautiful place in nature.

    Different context, different ideas. It’s great if the place matches the quality you are wanting to invite in.

    But we can make magic happen anywhere.

  • While we love having a couple of months to co-create, design and prepare our work, we’ve been known to whip up a 5-course leadership offsite in a matter of days, so last-minute requests are welcome.

  • In person? 500. Online 2.000.

    Although those are big kahunas. We are absolutely smitten to work with intimate teams: three is a team.
